This study was included in the prestigious publication The Lancet in 2003. The study included almost six thousand men and women who were between 40 and 80 years of age and had diabetes. The group included 2,912 people who had not been diagnosed with a heart disease. 90 % of the patients who participated in the study had type 2 diabetes.
