Why Surrogate Motherhood Should Not Be Encouraged

The arrangement made by a woman or a couple who are unable to have a baby with another woman is known as surrogate motherhood. In this case the woman can be infertile or having problems with her uterus that she is not able to conceive. It is then that the couple or single woman considers having a baby through another fertile woman. It is simply renting a womb to have a baby.

This surrogate mother enters into a contract with an infertile couple or a single woman to carry the fertilized egg and to give birth to the child for a certain amount of payment. The demand for surrogate mothers is increasing steadily in today’s world. As reproductive technology has gained momentum the demand for surrogate mothers has also increased. Children can only be carried in a womb otherwise with all the technological advancements going on in this world we would find children incubating from test tubes. Thank God for that.

I surrogacy motherhood there is no physical contact between the surrogate and d the biological father. The embryo is implanted into the womb of the surrogate mother. Many women have begun to make plenty of money by being surrogate mothers. And baby selling has become a major thing since surrogacy is expensive only the very rich can go through the whole process.

As the couple have to pay for the whole procedure and also take full responsibility of the surrogate mother while she is carrying their baby. All her expenses have to be borne and she should be provided with adequate money for her to have nutritional diets so that their baby grows well. The couple has to bear all the hospital charges for the delivery of the baby.

Surrogate mother should be banned as it can lead to legal, religious, ethics and moral problems in the future. Surrogate motherhood can raise a number of legal problems like payment, arrangement and the responsibility of carrying the child. The parents can face a number of risks in surrogacy. What if the child born has a handicap then the parents can not refuse to take the child and if they refuse then who is responsible for the child? All these become legal issues and there have been many cases like these going to courts.

Surrogacy is not morally correct as human life is precious and we should certainly not put a price on the life of a human being.
