When Not To Cleanse Your Colon



Healthy individuals do not need to cleanse their colons. If you are having a bowel movement after each meal that takes less than a minute to expel and does not cause any straining; you do not need to use a colon-cleansing product. Colon cleansing products can be overused just like any other product or medicine. They can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalance if used in excess of need. Hydrotherapy cleanses can cause infections due to unclean equipment, damage to the walls of the intestine and over hydration which can be very harmful and even deadly. Your body is designed to function perfectly when we take care to eat the proper natural foods available to us.

Cancers cannot be cured by colon cleanses nor can they be prevented by them. Cancers develop due to irregular cell division. Colon cleansing cannot change how cells divide.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Chronic Constipation are serious medical conditions that require medical intervention from licensed healthcare professionals. Relying on a colon cleanse to treat a medical condition such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome or chronic constipation can lead to more difficulties.

* Chew your food more

* Eat smaller amounts at meals. Perhaps instead of 3 big meals, have 6 smaller helpings of food throughout your day.

Many herbal cleanses should be avoided if you are taking medications as there could be reactions. Herbs are not regulated by the FDA so you will never be certain of what you are getting, so be wary of the companies you may be dealing with.

Colon cleansing should never replace sound medical advice when you are experiencing digestive upsets or disruptions.

Individuals who use colon cleanses for weight loss need to be careful to avoid over-using them as this could lead to dehydration or electrolyte imbalances.

Like anything else you introduce into your body either by mouth or into a body crevice, you must check for product quality and safety.

It is wise to check out all your options before deciding on a course of action, this is true in anything in life. There may be times when colon cleansing is the right thing to do and there are other times when it is not.
