Since premature ejaculation is usually caused by stress, anxiety, or related conditions and usually goes away after the man suffering from the premature ejaculation manages to lessen stress or control anxiety most men often don't realize that premature ejaculation can be a symptom of a more serious medical problem. If you are having premature ejaculations and continue to have them for more than a month or so even if you work on learning ejaculatory control and relaxation techniques then you might have a medical disorder that needs treatment. If you have continued or long term problems with premature ejaculation then you should make an appointment to see a doctor.

There are several medical conditions that list premature ejaculation as a possible symptom. One of those conditions is Prostatitis. Prostatitis is an enlargement or an inflammation of the tissue in the prostate. Since ejaculatory fluid is mostly made of prostate fluid whenever anything goes wrong with the prostate you may develop problems with premature ejaculation as a result. So how can you tell if you may have Prostatitis? In addition to premature ejaculations if you have fever, chills, body aches, a burning sensation during urination, the need to urinate frequently, and pain in the back or genital areas then you may have Prostatitis. Even though the symptoms of Prostatitis can mimic the flu Prostatitis is a bacterial infection that needs to be treated by using antibiotics prescribed by a doctor. So if you have one or more of the symptoms commonly associated with Prostatitis you should make an appointment to see your doctor.

Usually when men develop Prostatitis it is a one time infection that is easily cleared up with antibiotics but some men develop chronic or long term Prostatitis which can lead to long term premature ejaculation and other reproductive problems. Doctors say that chronic Prostatitis is a relatively rare condition and only a small percentage of men ever develop it but it causes a lot of pain, embarrassment and anguish for the men who do suffer from it. The exact cause of chronic Prostatitis is unknown but most experts in the field agree that the most likely cause of chronic and long term Prostatitus infections is E Coli. So if you work in a job where you are regularly exposed to E Coli, like working in a restaurant or kitchen, then you may be at risk for developing long term Prostatitis.

If your premature ejaculations do not subside over the course of a few months or if you feel that you may have a Prostatitis infection then you should immediately call your doctor to get examined. If you do have Prostatitis and it is caught early by your doctor then you may be able to clear up the infection with antibiotics and develop a problem with long term or chronic Prostatitis. Premature ejaculations do not necessarily mean that you have a Prostatitis infection but if you have flu-like symptoms, pain in the back or the groin area, and premature ejaculations that last for months it is probably a good idea to make an appointment with your doctor to be examined to make sure you don't have Prostatitis.
