A stroke is a clinical term in which the brain loses brain function very rapidly due to stoppage of blood flow to any part or the whole of the brain. In clinical terms it is called as cerebral hemorrhage. A stroke can cause permanent disability or even death. The basic cause of a stroke is the stoppage of blood flow to the brain which results in the depletion in the oxygen levels and glucose levels in the affected area.

A stroke is an equivalent of a heart attack for the brain. The stroke is sudden and its consequences are mind numbing. A stroke may alter the thinking, learning, feeling and communication of the victim. The cause of a stroke is a clot in the blood or bleeding. It is the most common cause of disability and also a very common cause of death. A stroke may occur anytime and without any warning. However, the people aged over 55 have an increased risk of being affected by a stroke.

The occupational therapy is about living your life with its full advantage and enjoying it. The meaning of occupation therapy is the usage of an occupation for making the patients self dependent by giving them an occupation that they like. It is used to cure people those are affected by physical or psychological problems. The occupational therapy helps the victims to make their lives more meaningful and also helps them to recuperate from total disability to working mode, though not fully, and make them do their daily lives more meaningful, so that they can get up on their own, get dressed, going for work, shopping, etc. 25% of the stroke survivors move directly from acute intensive care to the care homes and are not properly rehabilitated as the staff of the care home lack the perfect knowledge of the basics of rehabilitation. It is the right of a stroke patient to get the best rehabilitation possible.

The occupational therapy is the same as the physiotherapy but not exactly same. The occupational therapy emphasizes the point that the patient must use the disabled part of the body more that the working part. This makes the active and live body cells and tissues to take up the position of the dead or the damaged blood cells. This makes the disabled part active again. With the disabled body parts returning to working condition the patient does not feel any more depression and this helps in the most effective rehabilitation of any patient.
