There is an increasing number of people who suffer from high cholesterol disorders. Improper diet habits, unhealthy lifestyles and greater levels of stress have all contributed to the occurrence of high cholesterol levels and emergence of health disorders resulting because of it. However, the most significant reason that causes the cholesterol levels to increase in because of excess weight. Unless obese people do not take the proper steps to reduce excess fat, the cholesterol levels would not decrease.

Obese Problems

Cholesterol basically refers to fats that are present mainly in animal fats. Hence, products like milk, butter, cheese, meat and most of the dairy items contain high level of fats or cholesterol. Though, a minimum amount of cholesterol is necessary for a healthy body, excess of it is never desirable. Hence, when an individual consumes more than enough quantities of foodstuffs that have high levels of cholesterol it, the fats within his body go on increasing. Due to this he becomes obese and the high cholesterol levels become a serious threat to the well-being of the individual. High cholesterol leads to fatty deposition on the walls of the arteries making them very narrow and leading to restricted flow of blood. This phenomenon is called artherosclerosis and if it happens to the arteries of the heart then the individual is at a serious risk for a heart attack. If this affects the arteries that supply blood to the brain, the individual may have paralytic stroke. Hence, this is why reducing excess weight and keeping a check on high cholesterol levels becomes so significant.

Excess weight puts immense pressure on the heart and it has to pump harder to supply blood to all the body parts. To lose excess weight an individual must first ensure that he exercises daily. A regular work out in the gym or doing exercises like yoga or tai chi can help the person a great deal to reduce excess weight. Those who do not have an inclination for exercises can also indulge in regular and simple brisk walking and cycling. The main factor, obviously, is to have a control on the diet. Avoid fried foodstuffs and as far as possible opt for fat-free or low-fat dairy products. Also, inculcating greater number of fresh vegetables, fruits and grains can help to give energy to the body and also keep the cholesterol levels in check.

This way the excess body weight would be reduced and the menace of high cholesterol can also be eliminated. This is a must for every obese individual.
