Late Motherhood

Till the sixties women made it a point to get married early before they were even 25 have children and raise them into emotionally strong adults even if they were having a job. But as more women felt that that had to qualify themselves much better to ensure that they also found a good career which would make them financially stable, the thought of getting married and having children never crossed their minds.

Some women did get married but put off having children for a long time as they thought that they would not be able to offer their children a good quality of life if they bring them into the world.

It is a known fact that child care is very expensive and providing food; clothing and education to the child can take a huge toll on their resources.

This thought that they may not be able to provide a quality life to their children has made many women put off having children for a long time till they finally realized that they were now much older than they were earlier.

Fifty years ago women had children when they were barely 18 and men when they were in the mid twenties. But these days more women are taking to careers and want to make something out of their life's before they actually plunge into motherhood.

Some women go on adventurous journeys to learn about the world and themselves in the process. Their minds are really not ready to cope with all the responsibilities which come with that of motherhood.

Once you become a mother than it is your children who become your top priority and your whole world revolves around them. You find that suddenly you do not even have time for your self. Children take up every moment of your life and this certainly scares many women from entering motherhood early in life.

When they finally settle down after they are in their mid thirties they decide that the time is right for them to enter into motherhood to shoulder the responsibilities of being a good mother. It is then that they realize that they are actually much older and are entering into a late motherhood.

Late motherhood does have its advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantages are that the women may find that they may not be able to conceive any more and are now saddled with many health and stress related problems like blood pressure, diabetes and depression etc.

The advantages of late motherhood is that the women are more wiser and have more patience to handle children in late motherhood as experiences in life have taught them lots of things.
