Every parent must have perfect information about the immunization of their children. They must keep an eye on the scheduled dates and appointments with the doctors. However the general information is not the substitute for medical care and advice of pediatrician. Your doctor may suggest variations based on individual facts and circumstances. Many schools provide parents with a form for the family pediatrician to record a child's immunizations before entry into school is allowed. There re many health topics those are important to disease prevention and health promotion.

Immunization is necessary for all kids. If you miss it in childhood then it may be given in adolescence and even in adulthood. But you must have the information so that it will not happen in any case. Generally the important immunization programme contains following vaccines. Polio, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Influenza, Chickenpox, etc. are some important vaccines.

Polio is orally given in 3 doses. Diphtheria is given as injection in muscles. Hepatitis B should be given to infants (under 12 months) in the thigh muscle. It is a three dose vaccine. First one is given at the time of birth. Measles is also given in fatty layer of tissue under the skin. First dose should be given to children after age of 12 months. It is recommended for all children and certain adolescents and adults. Mumps vaccine is given as injection. At least one dose is recommended for all children after 12 months of age.

Influenza vaccines have been in use since 1945 and it contains three virus strains that are expected to affect in the winter. It may be used every year. Tuberculosis vaccine is a live, weakended bacterial vaccine. It has been given to 4 billion people worldwide. The changes in TB bacteria lead the changes in vaccines and its effectiveness is also highly variable. US does not recommend this vaccine for all children because it is not enough effective.

Whatever the benefits of vaccines are there, parents should be aware of its side effects and adverse effects. They should carefully follow the schedule given by their pediatrician.
