An alternative to using prescription medications for relief of Restless Leg Syndrome symptoms is to use Homeopathic remedies. In general Homeopathic remedies come from two ideas. First is that a substance, when prepared correctly, can activate the body's own curing power to overcome certain symptoms. Also, Potentization of a substance, where it goes through several precise dilutions and succussions – which bring an energetic change in turn, is rendering the substance more powerful, while eliminating all chemical toxicity that would be found in the substance without the processing.

Homeopathic remedies must be chosen with care and according to specific information and for the correct use. Using a homeopathic remedy incorrectly or for the wrong reason may have little or not effect at all, leaving the person frustrated and believing that the remedies do not work. A remedy or remedies must be chose to work with a person's system and how it reacts to the disorder or illness. As with most medication or remedies, they affect people differently. When choosing a remedy, make sure it is one that most closely resembles the symptoms, that way helping the body's natural defenses work to relieve the symptoms of RLS as well as other illnesses or disorders.

When desiring relief for RLS several homeopathic remedies could be helpful, among them are Aconitum Napellus, if you suffer from RLS and may tend to be anxious in general. Arsenicium Album focuses on feelings of weakness, heaviness and trembling in the legs, as well as the discomfort of cramping and burning. Depending on the combination and severity of the symptoms, various remedies can be found. One of the most common remedies may be Zincum Metallicum. Zinc replenishes the system with minerals it needs, as often times it is these deficiencies that can cause RLS symptoms.

An important note when it comes to using homeopathic remedies is dosing. While selecting a remedy for self-treatment is fine at a low does, or according to a physicians orders. Take one dose and wait to see if there is any improvement. If there is a change do nothing and let it continue to work. If there is no improvement, or relief has stopped, a second dose can be used. If by chance, there is no improvement after a reasonable time select a different remedy and repeat the process.

Homeopathy is a non-toxic system of medicine used for illnesses and to relieve discomfort from many health conditions. Homeopathy is practiced by licensed physicians and qualified subscribers around the world. Trained homeopathic physicians should be consulted for more serous illnesses, not handled at home unsupervised. In some cases medical knowledge may be needed to correctly asses a condition. In addition trained physicians can determine if a remedy is working or has not acted and the illness is worsening. When choosing homeopathic remedies for RLS, a homeopath will take a careful history of the person's health, in turn choosing the best remedy for their RLS symptoms and bring much needed relief.
