The vitamin K is a nutrient for the humans and many types of animals and plants. In addition, we should take proper are that we consume the proper amount of the vitamin K from the food. The deficiency may lead to various deficiency diseases in the body. Major of them are in relation to blood as bleeding of the different parts of the body or problems in the clotting of blood in the wounds etc.
The symptoms of the deficiency of vitamin K
The deficiency of the vitamin K may result in problems as the external or internal bleeding. The deficiency may result in to the bleeding from nose or gums, or it will cause heavy menstrual bleeding in the patients. The bleeding may also occur inside the gastrointestinal tracts or the urine, etc. This bleeding starts abruptly in any time during the day or night. It is painful in some cases but not often. However, there is a loss in the blood in the body. Therefore, it is a serious symptom. Because of this the person can loose too much of blood.
In newly, born babies this very commonly result the hemorrhagic disease along with postoperative bleeding and hematuria. In some cases, there are also reports of hematomas of the muscles and inter-cranial hemorrhages.
In addition, the problem with the clotting of the blood also, occurs in the patient. The vitamin K is very necessary for the clotting mechanism of the blood. Therefore, when an injury occurs to the people who face very acute deficiency of the vitamin K, very great amount of blood is lost from the body, which in some extreme cases may result in death.
If somebody is taking medication for some disease and if, this medication contains anticoagulants or blood thinners then it will not work if that person is having deficiency of vitamin K.
In addition to the above-mentioned problems, there are repots that they also have a role in the diseases like osteoporosis, Osteopenia, Hypercalciuria, Liver Cancer, calcification of the soft tissues especially the valves of the heart, etc.
