Our body requires the vitamin A for a number of purposes such as the maintenance of eyes and their parts, the immune system of the body epithelial cellular integrity and the reproductive system of the body. In addition to this, it is also necessary for the development and growth of the body. Therefore, we should consume proper sources of vitamin A if we do not want any problems with these parts or these systems.

The deficiency symptoms of the vitamin A

If the body faces the deficiency of the vitamin A then many deficiency problems will develop. Among these, one is the problem with the eyes. The conjunctiva and the cornea may become dry. Moreover, externally the eyes show redness and irritation. Therefore, it somebody is facing the problem of itchy eyes and tiring of the eyes regularly then this can be signs of deficiency of vitamin A.

As the deficiency of the vitamin A affects the immune system of the body, the person may have regular colds or such diseases, which do not occur with that frequency in the normal people. They may also have problems with the ear, skin, etc, hair and scalp of the head, etc.

It may also cause the loss in the weight. If the person is facing the deficiency, then he will also have problems of insomnia, fatigue, etc. The people also have to face the problems with the reproductive system.

Significance of the deficiency of the vitamin A

The people with the deficiency of the vitamin A have problems with the eyes and therefore they have to face the problems with their vision. Especially the people facing it cannot see well in conditions were the light is less. It may also cause ulcerate of the cornea or even permanent blindness. As this also affects the ear skin hair and scalp, it causes the problems with the hearing, or the skin problems like acne etc and problems of falling of hair and scalp.

The deficiency of the vitamin A in children causes poor growth and development. In adults as this affects the immune system and the reproductive system the person often remains ill and tired. Due to the effect on the reproductive system, the people face some serious problems with the reproductive system and this may result into non-bearing of children.

Due to all these the people should take proper care that their take the proper amount of vitamin A through their diet.
