Choosing Single Motherhood

It becomes highly emotional and very personal when it comes to choosing to be a single mother. This trend of single mother hood ahs been gaining popularity lately. Earlier women became single mothers by chance when either their spouses died or due to an unwanted pregnancy or because of a divorce. Then women had no choice but to accept with this and carry on with life as a single parent.

Those days it was considered derogatory to be a single mother as these single mothers who were never married had to face ridicule from society. Things and time have changed greatly now. In this modern age of technology women choose to be single mothers by either adopting children or by going in for artificial insemination.

It has become such a fad today that it can rightly be even called a movement. It was all started by celebrities and successful career women. These women tend to reach close to 40 by the time they have finished pursuing their careers and by this time they prefer not to marry but instead end up living as spinsters. But the natural urge to love and nurture like a mother makes these single women decide on children. It is the need to share that drives these women to choose single mother hood.

Having all the financial security that money can offer the women feel the need to have a loving family by raising children and sharing their happiness with them as this gives these women plenty of satisfaction in life. Single mothers are highly confident of themselves, financially secure, intelligent and self assured and are fully equipped these same qualities to their children. Choosing to be a single mother can be highly demanding

But is the most cherishing.

Many women became single mothers out of compulsion like having to go through a divorce or death of spouse or due to an unwanted pregnancy. Choosing to be a single mother imposes a lot of responsibility on the mother. She has to give up many things in her life so that her child is the first priority in her life. To be a single mother is a very emotional and personal choice of any woman.
