In reality, it is thought that nearly 1.5 million children are thought to have RLS, among adults with the disorder, it is thought their symptoms began in childhood or adolescence. If there is a question as to a children's symptoms, ask them questions similar to those asked to adults; if they are able to answer them then it should be assumed RLS is the cause for their discomfort, in turn they should be referred to a Pediatric Nuerologist who may be able to help with evaluation and proper treatment, according to their age.
