It is mothers who have a positive impact and influence in the lives of their children. It does not make any difference whether they are single parents or not. A study on this aspect has found that in the case of a single parent it does not have any negative impact on the behavior or educational performance of the children especially those who are on the brink of being labeled adolescents.
The study says that what mattered most was the mother’s education and her ability level and less importance was given to family income and quality of home environment. The study found consistent links between maternal attributes and a child’s school performance and behavior.
Parenting by itself is a very tough job when it comes to taking care of children. It is highly challenging to even couples who are two in number who take care of children. Then you can imagine the difficulties involved when it comes to single parenting. Single parents have to plan for themselves and their child for the present and also the future.
For a child who has two parents to take care of him or her is always secure even in the worst case scenario where the child looses one of its parents incase of death. The child has the other parent to take care of it. But this is not so in the case of single parenting. Single parenting starts off with only a single person whether it may be a father or mother.
It is now quite common to see women who are older to have children later in their lives.
As more women are getting better educated and with their increasing academic qualifications and their passion to pursue their careers has made these women postpone having children to a later date. Because of their pre occupation with their work these women do not feel the need to have children early in life
In some cases, women who have already reared a family may want to have another child with a new partner. This happens in cases where there is remarriage.
It becomes highly emotional and very personal when it comes to choosing to be a single mother. This trend of single mother hood ahs been gaining popularity lately. Earlier women became single mothers by chance when either their spouses died or due to an unwanted pregnancy or because of a divorce. Then women had no choice but to accept with this and carry on with life as a single parent.
Those days it was considered derogatory to be a single mother as these single mothers who were never married had to face ridicule from society. Things and time have changed greatly now. In this modern age of technology women choose to be single mothers by either adopting children or by going in for artificial insemination.
The moment a baby is born its innate nature to trust also begins. It is removed from its warm comfortable quiet world where it stayed secure for 10 months to a frightening world of noise and utter discomfort. It is at this time that a parent gives the child all the love and warmth and comfort that the child has been used to all this time before its birth.
By taking care of the child the parents let the baby know that the child can trust them and that the child is safe. Newborns soon realize that when ever they have a need there will be someone to care for them.
In motherhood a woman is able to learn plenty of life’s lessons. There are women who have been working while they were having their children. So, they had to learn how to juggle between office and home and their children. They had to do many things at the same time.
There were times when they had to finish their important office assignment
And at the same time attend to their progress in school and other extra curricular activities. This is where they learn how to do multi tasking.
One of the most fulfilling jobs in the world which is also the toughest is to raise children and it is in this field that the parent is least prepared as there are certainly no educational institutions to teach anyone how to be a good parent and award certificates on successful completion. The best way to be an effective parent is only through the trial and error method.
The child sees itself through the parent’s eyes. So your very words and actions as a parent affect the child’s self esteem. Never belittle or make your child feel worthless when comparing with other children instead praise your child’s accomplishments so that it will make him or her feel proud. Make positive statements to your child.
Parenting and Alcohol simply do not go together or even mix together. Even having small glass of wine along with dinner at restaurants or having beer with a hamburger at a diners makes a parent highly irresponsible.
How can parents tell their children not to drink or talk about the ill effects of alcohol if they themselves are doing it in front of their kids? This becomes all the more hard when you have to talk to teenage children about the ill effects of drinking if you do not abstain from it your self.

Motherhood is the most important event that takes place in a woman’s life. This extraordinary experience is only given to the woman as it is not possible for a man to become a mother how ever hard he tries. Motherhood is the exclusive privilege and right of the woman.
Motherhood has always been associated with woman having a natural maternal instinct. This fact has been used for ages to restrict women into child bearing and child rearing and home making roles. It was always expected of a woman to get married, give birth to children and take care of them.
Maternity is the period when a woman carries a child in her womb for a full term of 9 months and begins to feel all the various emotions beginning to flower and develop in her. It is during maternity that motherhood actually blossoms.
When we think of a mother we get the picture of a kind compassionate woman who is ever ready to sacrifice all her comforts and work endlessly at home doing all the house hold chores not expecting any monetary rewards from anyone and in the process taking care of raising her children as well.
