Parenting teenagers is the most difficult thing to do. It is easy to parent smaller children as they will at least sit down with you and listen to what you have to say and will certainly not defy you with their words and actions. But with teenagers it is an entirely different story altogether. Teenagers are a very difficult lot of people to be handled and they need to be handled very skillfully as there are chances that they may just go astray.

Many have researchers have found parents complain that they are finding it extremely difficult to parent teenagers these days and that they are not getting enough support to handle these youngsters who give them lots of trouble. Parents are a worried lot as they

As they do not know if they are doing a good job at parenting teenagers and also about what type of world their children will grow up into with all the drug and alcohol abuse doing the rounds. Teenagers have to deal with issues like drugs, alcohol, safety and education when they are struggling to find their individual identities and independence.

These days even with two parents being around to raise teenage children or children of any age it is not an easy job. Then think of the plight of a single parent. For a single parent to raise a teenager it is a really trying task as he or she will not have the other parent for moral support incase there is a problem.

Teenagers resent their single parents having a relationship with somebody else. Children always want their parents to themselves and they want the undivided attention of their parents. With teenagers parenting can be very tricky. As parents you have to set certain standards before you want then to follow those rules. If you happen to break the rules you set then they will even question you on that.

When it comes to alcohol or smoking then parents must make sure that they themselves are not smokers or consume alcohol before they give a lecture to their teenagers on the vices of drinking and smoking. Teenagers prefer a lot of privacy and they resent if their parents intrude. Parents have to give them their space. It is only then that they will have a cordial relationship with their parenting. Parenting a teenager is the toughest job in the world.

It is true that you will get your good share of trying times and troubling tantrums, but you’ll also get your fair share of the many joys of parenthood as well. There are however a few things that you will always have to take into account being a single parent when raising your children, and it won’t always be easy on you. And one of the first one you’ll have to decide upon is how far you’re ready to go for the sake of happiness.

What happens if you meet another person you want to have a relationship with? Being a single parent, this isn’t all that unlikely as you might think. So do you enter into this relationship knowing that it won’t lead to anywhere because you won’t disrupt your children and they don’t need the added stress? Or do you just go ahead and start dreaming about what you could be like as a normal two parent family?

The worst thing happens and your kids absolutely detest your new partner. What then, being a single parent do you throw that person out of your life for the sake of your children’s happiness and peace of mind? Or do you go ahead and carve out some joy for yourself, knowing that your children will, eventually – will – get to like this new person on their lives?

Being a single parent is not easy and it might be nice to think how your kids could benefit from being in a two parent family. Many of the harder decisions in your life could now be shared with someone else, and you’d have someone to share your fears and joys in as well.

Being a single parent and having only yourself for you to depend on, you’ll need to make all the decisions and decide what’s good for your family and what’s bad. This includes new relationships for you and how your children take it, and also includes such things as school problems, possible injuries, dating problems, and some other things that goes with the territory of being a parent.

Contrary to what you believe or what you might have heard, kids will become needier emotionally as they grow up and into their teen years. Being a single parent family you will therefore as far as possible need to provide them with the emotional support of a two parent family.

How to Parent Teenagers?

Posted on June 30, 2007

Teen parenting is quite a difficult proposition for many individuals who are burdened with the unexpected birth of a baby. Nurturing a child is quite difficult and requires a great deal of patience and h

Christians believe that being a mother is a very important role in life and it is something that the Lord gives to many women. The bible says that mothers are told to love their children. Further the bible asks if a mother can forget the baby who is suckling at her breast and have no compassion on the child that she has given birth to.

It is only mothers who have the unique and crucial role in their lives in bringing up children. Motherhood is not to be treated as a chore or an unpleasant task. Mothers should be happy to welcome motherhood as a blessing of the Lord and be always thankful for the gift of the child.

The Bible says that to be a mother is the holy privilege from God. It is said in the Bible that without the blessings of the Lord no woman can have a baby. Becoming a mother is the greatest joy that any person can have in this life.

A woman may go through a number of hardships while she is pregnant but the moment she delivers her child all what she went through in the past nine months are just erased from her memory. All she sees is the loving face of her child and nothing but love and compassion flows from her heart. She just wants to carry and cuddle her baby close to her heart and immediately feed the child with milk.

Children should be considered as a gift from God and they should cherish such a gift. They should carefully nurture the gift of God and raise the child with love and affection into a strong person.

The Bible says that a woman was specially designed both physically and emotionally to not only conceive and bear a child but to also raise it in the best possible way. God intended for woman to give birth to children and had them structured that way.

The Bible considers as enemies’ those people who consider women to be playthings and objects of lust. It condemns men using women only to satisfy all their sexual urges and not revere her as someone to be honored. The Bible wants that women should be respected for their unique role in being to able to conceive and bring forth a life to this earth.

A family which consists of a father, mother and children is known as a nuclear family but these days it is quite common to see more single parent families. Single parents face the same problems that two parent families face but the problems will be more difficult to handle and bear in the case of a single parent. Mostly children feel hostile towards to their parents as they grow up and try to become more independent. This becomes all the more in the case where a single parent has to face the brunt of it all.

It is normal for the child to feel bitterness and hatred towards the absent parent. Loneliness, poverty, and insecurity about having to raise a child without support makes the single parent spoil them by overindulgence. These children do not get much exposure to be with other adults and children.

The child effects of single parenting are much more than in the case of a child with two parents. The continuing conflict and bitterness that the two parents carry towards each other will play a lot on the minds of the child and will affect the child mentally and emotionally.

Every child is happy and secure in the company of both his father and mother. This helps to nurture a well balanced and emotionally secure child.

Visitation rights awarded by the court and custody problems could also have a major impact on the child as the child will be torn between two parents from time to time instead of having to spend time with both parents all along. This way the child often less time with both the parents and is instead shuttling between two parents all the time and gets to spend time with only one parent at a time.

Disruptions of extended family relationships and problems caused when single parents begin to date and enter into new relations hips as these are all resented by children.

It is important that single parent arrange their priorities in life so that their child comes first as this will certainly go a long way when raising a child.

Children of single parents are always at a greater risk of poor psychological adjustments; behavioral and social problems have a low self esteem and perform badly in school. Allow the child to fully express himself and last but not least children need a loving, nurturing, stable and economically secure environment for best growth and full development..

When parents divorce or simply separate, mothers and fathers decide that in order to retain a strong positive role in parenting their children that they should share the responsibility of parenting. Thus the concept of shared parenting came to be. In this concept when the parents separated or divorced the children spent time living with each of the parent for a period of time

Some parents prefer to share parenting responsibilities equally so that the children get to spend equal amounts of time with each of the parents. In some cases the father may be too tied up with his work especially if he is traveling extensively then the child gets to stay with his father for a shorter period.

But why did this concept come up? Many children reuse to choose with which parent he or she prefers to live with after the parents have separated and there is a breakdown in the family. They do not want to live with one parent all the time and get the opportunity to meet the parent over along period of time. This way in shared parenting the children are given the opportunity to build up and maintain meaningful relationships with both of their parents.

Shared parenting has many advantages to it. It is a concept which dispels the notion that it is only one parent who is caring for the child and that the other parent is not taking an active role in parenting and is absent.

In shared parenting both the parents get the opportunity to share the burden of having to discipline the child. When a child lives only with a single parent throughout after the separation of the parents then only the parent in charge has to shoulder the responsibility of bringing up the child and also disciplining the child. The other parent just has nothing to do with the bringing up of the child. This is not so in shared parenting where both the parents have equal responsibilities to care for the child and shoulder the responsibility of disciplining the child.

In shared parenting the continuation of family life is not broken as the child experiences the nurturing caring and meaningful relationships with both the parents. The children have the reassuring feeling that though their parents are separated and living apart they still have two parents in their lives.

Future is itself uncertain as also the future of parenting. Many disasters which have occurred naturally and some intentionally have made people to reevaluate and reclaim their priorities which could be most important to them like their families.

It is when disaster or calamity strikes that we reach out to our families for comfort and support. This is a natural instinct .But the question is, is it possible for parents to give their children a sense of security, strength and faith in future. It is not only considered important but also imperative to give your children the needed security, faith and strength in future.

There are five key trends in the future of parenting. It is most important that parents spend more quality time with their children at home and work less. This will make the child bond more closely with their parents if they spend more time with their children.

The second key trend in the future of parenting is to make the child more resilient. This is the ability to be able to cope with stresses whether they may be major or minor and then return to their normal life styles as if nothing happened. Children who have close, supportive families are better equipped to deal with stress or trauma in a positive manner. Sensitive responsible parents help to ensure that their children are fully equipped to handle stresses in life.

It is important to raise children to be compassionate human beings. This is an important trend in future of parenting. Compassionate children learn how to identify themselves with others. When parents treat their children with respect and kindness then the children when they grow up will also exhibit the very same qualities.

Children by nature are kind and compassionate and it is up to the parents to nurture this behavior in their children. This way these children who have grown up as compassionate adults will find it easier when it comes to helping others.

Spirituality helps to ingrain good qualities in children. The nature of .spirituality shows children that every human being on this earth is as important as he or she is. They learn to respect human lives.

Stress has been known to be the major cause to a number of health problems like depression, heart disease and diabetes. So children should be taught to deal with stress in a positive way to be able to lead a healthy productive life.

If you have children then you must be getting a lot of tips and advice about how you should parent your child. You may find some tips to be extremely useful but there could be some advice which could really confuse you to feel that you could have made mistakes in your parenting role.

Advice comes from anybody and everybody as far as raising your child is concerned. In your mind you may already have in mind what kind of values you want your child to imbibe. You may be willing to listen to experts on the subject but it makes it all the more difficult and annoying if advice keeps coming to you from friends. It is then that you have to decide what goals you have to set up in parenting so that your child grows up with the right kind of values.

The first step is to identify the values you would like to teach your child. Ask your self questions like what kind of person you want your child to be when he or she grows up. Would you like your child to be a kind, caring, compassionate, hardworking, pleasant helpful person in life?

After you have identified the values you want your child to follow, make a list of it and then imagine your child with these values and whether it pleases you to see them like that. If you don’t feel happy then change the list.

Sometimes you may value health and being active as important values or you may prefer that your child is smart and is able to solve problems. It is important that you as a parent identify and prioritize your values.

Different values may mean different things to different people.. You may be someone who does give honesty preference but you would like to be honest if it does not hurt anyone. Or you could value honesty as an important trait.

Look for qualities which do not go together. You may find it difficult to be truthful and honest at the same time especially when you are dealing with your children. Sometimes you can be truthful and at other times you could be honest with them.

Once you know how to work with the values it will be much easier to put into practice. Once you have decided on the goals then make sure you put them into practice first before you want your children to imbibe those values.

A surrogate mother is a woman who carries a baby for a term for another couple who have not been able to produce a child on their own due certain problems. Surrogate motherhood is actually an agreement which is entered into between the adopting couple and an agency or a surrogate mother. Surrogate motherhood has become highly controversial given the fact that it is now very popular and it is always done in return for money than a favor as in the case of relatives and friends.

In surrogate motherhood when negotiations take place between the couple and the surrogate mother or between the couple and the agency which arranges for the surrogate mother for a fee, it always turns out into a highly emotional situation where large amounts of time, money and patience are involved. The whole affair is a complicated arrangement and is legal in a few states while in other states it is not.

Many surrogate mothers find it very difficult to give up the babies they are carrying after birth as these mothers have to cope with many emotional issues pertaining to giving up the child soon after birth. And many couples also face a harrowing time with legal issues when it comes to surrogacy and the question arises whether it is really worth all the time, money and trouble these couples go through to have a child by entering a surrogacy agreement.

There are many valid points which go against surrogacy motherhood. Most surrogate mothers do it for money and there are cases where these surrogate mothers who have been looked after well with full financial support during the pregnancy term by the couples who hired them have turned hostile after the birth of the baby. Many people fear that the widespread popularity of surrogacy could cause damage to women’s rights or could even result in the exploitation of poor women. There are also moral issues pertaining to surrogacy where parenting turns out to be a matter of convenience and money rather than out of love.

Some people argue that surrogacy along with the use of technology is going against God’s will.
