Active Parenting takes up a lot of energy because children respond better to parent's actions than their words so effective parents make active parents. Active parents have clear goals for their children to follow in life and they are constantly encouraging their children towards this goal.

It is parents who are leaders in a family but this is not so in the case of reactive parents. Their child's bad behavior pushes these parents to the limit making them display frustration, anger and sporadic discipline which may not be consistent. Active parent help their children to learn the skills of survival. There are four important skills that active parents teach to their children.

They teach their children to be always courageous no matter what the situation is. Courage helps to build the core personality of the child as it helps build self esteem. And this is important as it gives the child the sense of feeling important.

Active parents teach their children to feel good about themselves and this enables the children to succeed with the courage to try new things in life. A child with high self esteem never looks at any experience as a failure but considers it as a learning experience.

In active parenting, children are encouraged by their parents to be co-operative and they stimulate learning. This teaches the child responsibility to be able to take the right decisions when ever necessary. Parents are not always present when their children face challenges and this allows them to make responsible decisions.

Active parenting involves teaching the child to be cooperative with others as this paves the way for teamwork. It is the child who learns how to cooperate with others who is more likely to survive in this society. The relationship of the parent and child should be one of cooperation and not of conflict.

Children who are courageous, responsible and cooperative and who always feel good about themselves learn all these from active parents. Here the parents treat the child with respect even when the child is punished and allow the children to voice their opinion and express their thoughts and feelings with respect to their parents.
